Yellow Cars

Some of the cars are yellow, that go

by. Those you look at, so glimmering

when light glances at their passing.

Think of that hope: "Someone will

like me, maybe." The tan ones

don't care, the blue ones have made

a mistake, the white haven't tried.

But the yellow -- you turn your head:

hope lasts a long time when you're happy.
